About the Founder

Anita Okunde is a 21-year-old award-winning activist and public speaker whose work has consistently centered on empowering young people to drive change. As the founder of the emerging VoxPop Collective, she is building a platform dedicated to increasing political literacy among young people in the UK. Through interactive education, lively discussion, and direct consultation with local councils, VoxPop ensures that young voices are not only heard but are actively shaping policy.

Anita's activism is rooted in her belief that the most effective change comes from those most affected by an issue. This conviction has been a driving force throughout her career. Her focus on intersectional climate justice and feminism has led to her being listed as one of the top 100 environmentalists by Forbes and serving as the Youth Commissioner for the Well-being of Future Generations Bill.

Currently a final-year Politics, Philosophy, and Economics student at the University of Oxford, Anita has honed her understanding of political systems from the inside out. Her recent tenure as the Oxford Union’s first Black woman President further solidifies her commitment to creating platforms for diverse voices. VoxPop Collective is the culmination of her work, designed to empower all young people, especially students, to become a force for positive change in their communities and, eventually, on a global scale.
